    Jorge Castillo

    Jorge José Carmelo Castillo Casalderrey (1933) is a Spanish painter, printmaker and sculptor. He is considered an important representative of surrealism and informal painting.
    His works have been included in numerous museums and collections in Europe, South America and the United States. Many monumental works are located in the public space of Spanish cities, including in La Coruña, Messina and Barcelona. From 1959 he also took part in numerous exhibitions around the world, including in the years 1964 and 1968 at the São Paulo Biennale and the Venice Biennale. In 1964 he was a prize winner of the I. Internationale der Zeichnung and in 1975 he was awarded the prize for painting in Darmstadt. The artist lives and works in Barcelona, New York and Berlin.
